Christina Hagmeier Wins Phi Kappa Phi Fellowship

The University of Kansas Chapter of Phi Kappa Phi is pleased to honor Christina Hagmeier as the winner of its 2016 James Blackiston Memorial Graduate Fellowship and the chapter's nominee for a national Phi Kappa Phi fellowship for which she is the winner of a $5000 National Fellowship from Phi Kappa Phi!

Christina is a graduating senior, completing B.A. degrees in both Psychology and Visual Art with departmental honors in both programs. She has earned a perfect 4.0 GPA while following a challenging and complicated schedule. Navigating the requirements for two degrees with very little overlap is an accomplishment in itself...not to mention the fact that she is graduating a full year early. The Blackiston Fellowship is the latest achievement for Christina, who was selected for the University of Kansas Department of Visual Art's Spring Scholarship Show for both Spring 2014 and 2015 and received the Geier Award for the Visual Arts in 2015. Christina has been awarded the Walker Scholarship for Visual Arts and the Amsden Book Award for Academic Excellence in Art History. Christina was honored as the Hall Government Member of the Year for 2014-2015, and has been on the CLAS Honor Roll every semester she has been at KU.

Christina's involvement on and off campus is a true indication of her dedication to helping others. She has served an active role working with children with disabilities, serving as community service chair for her scholarship hall, tutoring international students in English, and volunteering with Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Lawrence. She has interned with Van Go, Lawrence, working to instill a love of art and provide a creative outlet for at-risk youth.

After graduation this May, Christina, who was initiated in Phi Kappa Phi in the Fall of 2015, plans to pursue the Master’s degree with a major in Art Therapy at George Washington University.
