Leawood Graduate Heading to KU Medical School Wins Phi Kappa Phi Fellowship

The University of Kansas Chapter of Phi Kappa Phi selected Todd C. Crawford as the winner of its 2009 James Blackiston Memorial Graduate Fellowship. Todd is also the recipient of the Phi Kappa Phi Award of Excellence.

Todd is a student in Business Finance with a minor in Chemistry from Leawood, Kansas. The Blackiston Fellowship is the latest achievement for Todd, straight-A student and teaching assistant in Financial Modeling and Risk Analysis, and the recipient of the Outstanding Undergraduate Chemistry Award, the Paul Landis and Max O. and Lora J. Weber School of Business Scholarships, and the Jordan Haines Phi Delta Theta Educational Foundation Scholarship. Todd is a member of Mortar Board and the Order of Omega Honor Societies.

Todd has been involved in a variety of activities at KU and in the community. He has served as President of the KU Chapter of Phi Delta Theta, where in addition to spending 25 hours per week presiding over a Chapter of 115 members and managing an annual budget of over $500,000, he organized a Fraternity Hazing Forum to critically discuss the negative impact of hazing and its repercussions on individuals and the entire Greek community. Todd also served as the Chapter's Community Service Chairman, Scholarship Chairman, and Rock Chalk Revue Business Representative. Todd currently serves as the Vice President of the Board of Class Officers and of the Senior Class at KU.

Todd also serves a Secretary of Natural Ties, a group that works with the mentally handicapped adult population in Lawrence, and as a volunteer in the Same Day Surgery Department at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, where he was recognized as the 2008 LMH Auxiliary Ryan Kanost Volunteer of the Year. Because of his many contributions at all levels, Todd was selected as finalist for the Excellence in Community, Education, and Leadership (ExCEL) Award last Fall.

After graduation this May, Todd, who was initiated in Phi Kappa Phi in the Fall of 2007, plans to pursue an MD degree at the University of Kansas School of Medicine.
